Always move forward

Today was my last day of work at Creative Curve Media Group Inc. I was presented with great opportunity by my new employer and with some consideration I thought it was the best move for me to grow. I am looking forward to starting on Monday!

Many Thanks to John Copp & Creative Curve Media Group Inc

Thank you for a great opportunity. You gave me a chance to prove myself as a competent web developer, which I think we can both agree I’ve succeeded. You presented me with many challenges to over come in a supportive and progressive environment. I think things went very smooth considering I was thrown into a lead/solo web developer position when I should have been the junior on the team. Luckily for us both I strive in these sort of environments and learned an enormous amount about client interactions, digital signage, web development and the better part of running a web development company.  I wouldn’t be where I am today with out you. Thank you again, I wish you the best of luck on your future endeavours and perhaps our paths will meet again in the future, until then.

Early Experiences

I never planned on becoming a web developer, though I always had an interest in programming concepts and computers. I took a Java course in grade 11 which put me through my paces. From variables to loops, classes to methods, here I learned the bare essentials.

A little later, after never using Java again, I picked very basic animation and programming skills in Flash / Action-script 2.0 – 3.0. I use the word “skills” very loosely in this context. Here my programming was mashed “cowboy coding” at best. Throwing code around care free, to what ever object it happened to land on, it seemed. I quickly began to realize that this wasn’t the proper way. Then I discovered you could program normally and didn’t have to apply code to each object. Eventually I got overwhelmed with no one to look to for support. I picked up and dropped flash a few times in several month intervals.
